Coffee in the Courtyard began as a rolling cart that delivered coffee and treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. After one of our dedicated volunteers, Shannon Sanders, signed up to help with the coffee cart in 2022, she asked if the treat could be made into a quarterly event. She loved treating our much-loved faculty/staff to something special. She noted that she loved "to see the teachers' faces light up when they saw us come through the halls." The coffee cart was so successful that it grew too large for a cart and is now a quarterly breakfast event set up for teachers, school and parish faculty/staff before school begins. Thanks to our partnership with Java Hut, we now provide coffee and natural energy drinks for our teachers and staff to give them the energy to get over the ‘hump’ in the middle of the week.
Why We Do It…
We want to treat our teachers to something to look forward to each quarter…just because they are AMAZING! Every quarter we hear “I have been looking forward to this all week!” And “Oh this has made my day!”
We also want parents who cannot always give their time during the day or after school an opportunity to help. There are opportunities to contribute with paper products, homemade items, or “store made” items. There is even a spot to donate money for items like coffee cups, creamer, sweeteners, etc.
Spotlight Baker…
Each quarter there is a spot for a student or two to sign up to bake something for the faculty. They and their parents work to come up with a special recipe and bake it for the teachers and staff. The student(s) have the opportunity to help with Coffee in the Courtyard that morning before the bell.
